Bedtime Routine

Ever since Matthew was a baby, he has had some sort of routine at bed time. That child THRIVES on routine.
So here is Matthew getting ready to brush his teeth. I let him start, and then I finish, since the brushing at bedtime is the most important of the day we're told. He got in bed kind of late for a Saturday night. He just HAD to watch the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards on TV. His bedtime routine is usually something like this:
  • use the potty
  • take Singulair
  • use Nasonex nasal spray
  • brush and floss teeth
  • rinse with fluoride rinse
  • most nights, a bedtime story followed by a Bible story/devotional and prayers

Since last night was an extremely late night for me, I'm off to join him in dreamland soon. Have a great Sunday.

The Greatest Show on Earth

Well, I don't have photos to share of the actual event, so this will be a short post. I did, though, take pictures of Matthew in his new clown hat. He and his dad went to Ringling Brothers' Circus last night. Jonathan and I were at a scrimage game at the ball field :(
Matthew's favorite part of the whole thing had to be the "silly clowns." He has pretty much talked of nothing else. Ed said the hat came with the $10 bag of cotton candy. OUCH! Isn't he cute?

Ordinary moments

Hi. I just finished lunch, a bowl of leftover homemade vegetable soup and a peanut buter and apple jelly sandwich with a glass of skim milk. I thought that would be a cool photo for my project 365 album. Notice the scrapbooking magazine underneath the potholder and bowl. LOL!

It has been an interesting week to say the least, but I'll spare you the details and simply share some of the more ordinary moments. Here is Jonathan most days of the week after school at his desk on his laptop. He usually listens to music while doing his homework.

These next photos are of Matthew. He was grounded from the TV for a couple of days for pitching a royal fit when asked to turn it off to get ready for t-ball practice. It was amazing the amount of reading he did during those two days! Might I suggest a TV free week sometime? I think it would do us all some good.

Okay...that's all I've got today. I have a Friday night scrapbook crop for which I need to get ready! Have a great rest of your week.

Happy Spring!

Okay...I've been a little slack about posting on my blog this week. I have good excuses, though, I promise. Tuesday, I had some out-patient surgery, and I have been taking it easy the rest of the week. My parents visited Wednesday and brought us food! Aren't they great? Mom brought a huge tub of pulled pork for barbeque sandwiches, which will last a couple of weeks at least. She also brought cream-style corn (from dad's garden), homemade vegetable soup, and cornbread. And to top it off...they brought the most scrumptious peanut butter pound cake! Oh my gosh! It was delish!!!! Also, the kids are back in baseball...full swing! Jonathan has practice 4 nights per week. So things have been kind of busy lately.
I did want to get out in the yard and get some pictures today. It was a gorgeous first day of spring...the sky was an unbelievable shade of blue, and everywhere you look, things are beginning to bloom. Here are some peeks into our yard today.
Ed's trying to sow some grass in the front bare spots. As you can see below, it's starting to come up nicely!

The Little Things

Part of our daily routine! Yep, we do homework in the car. Matthew's school lets out at 2:25 PM, and Jonathan's school lets out at 3:10. So we have about 30 minutes to do homework. It's so much easier just getting it done then. Of course, we save reading until right before bedtime. This is a photo of Matthew doing his math. I enjoy taking photos of the mundane stuff like this. The kids hopefully will love looking back and remembering the little things!

Opening Day

This is going to be a short post. Unfortunately I have come down with this gunk going around. I've been running a low grade temp and coughing with a ton of gunk in my chest for the past day and a half. I did, though, make it to most of opening day of little league baseball yesterday. I took shots of the kids and the all-American hot dog lunch they enjoyed. The only thing missing was the apple pie! Can't wait to feel better so everything is back to normal.

First Blogoversary

Happy Blogoversary to me! Happy Blogaversary to me! Happy Blogaversary dear Kim...Happy Blogavesary to me!!!!
Wow! One year of blogging! Who'd a thunk it? LOL! Just think of all the exclamation points I've typed in a year's time. LOL!
Okay...still sick around here. Hoping the weekend brings recovery. Gotta get the kiddos back to school and in baseball. Have a great weekend yourselves.

Quick post

Well, today I have both kids home sick. I took them to the after hours clinic last night. Matthew is now on steroids to try and get his cough/inflammation under control. My 12 year old came home yesterday with a 103 temp. He has a sinus infection. Poor babies! But boy am I ever glad that Ed is due home today! I can hardly wait to see him.
I am motivated to do nothing today, but maybe I'll get up to my scrapbook room later. That sounds good, huh. I plan to watch the clock though. I want to make a yummy dinner for my man.
It is supposed to reach almost 80 degrees here in the next couple of days, and baseball season officially starts around here on Saturday. So keep your fingers crossed that the boys feel like participating! Until next time...have a lovely day.

More Random Thoughts

Here are some random thoughts for your Tuesday.

1. I miss my husband. He's in Phoenix, AZ. Here's the note he left me and the kids before he left.

But I have to admit...I'm not cooking nearly as much this week. And that's a plus! (But I still miss you babe!)

2. While he's gone, my 6 year old got bronchitis and will miss school tomorrow for a second day this week. Poor sweet boy! He's coughing his head off right now as I type.
3. Don't even want to talk about the Bachelor! Okay, yes I do. OMG....I can't even believe that finale...or rather the aftermath of the finale. Poor Melissa...you deserve better, girl! Besides,
you didn't really want to go through life beside that guy who is always hyper correcting his grammar. "Her and I..." Speaking of Ty..."between him and I." Give me a break! Doesn't he know to use "She and I" when used as subjects, and "him and me" when used as objects? (Okay...maybe I'm being just a tad OCD here.)
4. Looking forward to seeing what happens with American Idol tonight and tomorrow. I liked the picks from last week.
5. I'm planning our church crop for next month. It's going to have a GREEN theme....in every sense of the word. Should be fun.
Gosh, this day and this post has flown by. Until next time!
